About Cyprus Chess Tales
Cyprus Chess Tales aspires to enrich the online documentation of chess history in Cyprus. It intends to provide a detailed account of the main chess tournaments that have been organized in Cyprus, as well as the participation of Cypriots in major tournaments, including results, statistics, organization details etc. It also aims to provide information regarding players, clubs, and important historical events that shaped the chess environment in the island.
Principles: Cyprus Chess Tales is a fully independent project with no affiliation to any third party. It is privately funded and operated entirely at the expense of the editor's spare time (and his already slim chances of improving at chess). All information is freely accessible and available to anyone interested in learning about or contributing to Cypriot chess history.
Sources: The material presented here has been obtained by various sources, including:
Publications in newspapers, magazines, and books.
Online webpages (including archived pages).
Tournament bulletins.
Online databases.
Support the Project: The endeavor of creating a complete archive of the Cypriot chess history is, of course, bound to fail. Nevertheless, this webpage will be continually updated in pursuit of that goal. Any material that could enhance the information presented here are highly valued and greatly appreciated. This includes press articles, bulletins, scoresheets, photos, interviews, anecdotal stories, or any other information related to chess and Cyprus. If you would like to contribute, please contact via email.
Acknowledgments: A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported and contributed to the improvement of this webpage.
